Kyle King, a participant in TRiO SSS, traveled to Las Vegas in July to attend the International Society of Poets 22nd Annual Convention and Symposium. 2,800 poets from around the world attended.Kyle received the Outstanding Achievement in Poetry Award for his poem "Miki-Chan" and was also awarded a bronze medal for Poet of Merit for 2008.
Last spring's Creative Writing class with Professor Robert Barclay helped him to polish his work. Kyle says that he probably would not have received the two awards without Professor Barclay's help and wise words, "Revise! Revise! Revise!"
