Word Parts - echo, ech


One of the fastest ways to increase your vocabulary is by learning word parts, i.e., roots, prefixes, suffixes or forms.

echo-, ech- : From Greek: sound, noise; especially a returned sound, repetition, imitation.

echocardiogram - medical test using high frequency waves to image the heart; ecopathy - pathological repetition through imitation of the actions or speech of another (copy cat to the extreme); echophrasia - speech disorder in which there is an involuntary repetition of the same word several times; echograph - device that records the oceanic depths by sonic waves.
