Word Parts - ad


One of the fastest ways to increase your vocabulary is by learning word parts, i.e., roots, prefixes, suffixes or forms.

ad- :
From Latin to, a direction toward, addition to, near, at, used as a prefix

advance - to move, or to move someone or something, forward in position; adapt - to undergo modification so as to fit new circumstances or situations; advocacy - active verbal support for a cause or position; addendum -something added or to be added; adrenal -near or upon the kidney; adoral - situated toward or near the mouth; ad nauseam - to a sickening or disgusting degree.
