Success Story still in Progress....Mari
Phillips-Ligsay
TRIO is the life line
of many of us here at WWC, Coming back to school with the idea of being a
success at it would not have been a reality if this place was not open. Don't
take away a our good thing. My first semester was just so much adjusting,
working full time, and school, time management, home work etc. ...Trio was the
place that I knew I could go and get things done right after class. Yes that
was my saving grace, and the people you meet there are also going through what
you are going through. They share ideas, you can talk to others and learn
things about school, there's tutoring and food, yes even if it's just a PBJ
sandwich and a cup of coffee. For me that is what saved me from the dread of
not having enough of time. As a Kailua High graduate, and three grown sons
later, two of which are enrolled in the UH system, and with all those
questioning me about going back to college, those at TRIO always made me feel
like I was doing the right thing. And I still need this place, so many of
us just in my second semester, time wise we need this place. ok, so the night
before my finals I also had a 10 page portfolio due in another class, TRIO was
my saving grace, They stayed open til midnight, I could finish my papers, print
them, they fed me and then I went to work. Without TRIO none of that would have
been possible..... still working at my degree and thankful for the support
system at TRIO.
