I first became a member of the TRiO
ohana in Fall 2009, when I started my quest for higher education at Windward
Community College. TRiO has been an essential part of my success as a college
student and I am eternally grateful for the services and support that they have
offered me throughout the years. Whether it was free printing, snacks or
activities and tutoring, TRiO was always there for me and supporting me every
step of the way.
The
network of friends I developed at TRiO helped to perpetuate me to gain further
momentum in my educational career, and encouraged me to reach out to others and
get involved on campus through clubs and honor societies. Working and going to
school can be challenging, but TRiO helped me to stay motivated and succeed.
It has been a couple years since I first started in the TRiO program and
I am proud to say that with TRiO's help, I have achieved a lot. I have earned
my PSDS (Psycho-Social Developmental Studies Certificate) and I will be
completing my last math requirement for graduation to earn my AA (Associate's
Degree) this summer through a TRiO funded math program. I continue to pursue my
dreams at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where I am a junior in the honors
program, majoring in psychology and minoring in political science. I couldn't
have done it without TRiO and their awesome staff, and for that I give them a
