If you’re looking for a
program full of people who are welcoming, caring, supporting, and holds a firm
reputation for helping you succeed, that program is Trio. But before I can talk
about what Trio has done for me I must first start from the beginning.
During my years in high school, I struggled so bad
that going to college was never an option. It wasn’t until I joined this program
called Upward Bound, that that was when my life began to change. The purpose of Upward
Bound was to give me the skills, and motivation that I needed to continue my
education in college. They definitely succeeded
at doing that.
Once I moved to Hawaii I still lacked that motivation that Upward Bound had provided me with. During my first semester at Windward I kept hearing about this Trio program. At first I avoided it because I didn’t think I would fit in. But, still yet that lack of motivation was still there.
Eventually I joined Trio not knowing that Trio was affiliated with Upward Bound. Long story short, Trio gave me that motivation that I needed as well as the necessary tools that helped me get through my courses. As I write this letter I am a few weeks away from graduating with my AA degree and moving on to obtain my bachelor’s degree at UH West Oahu.
I want to give Trio and its affiliated partners a special thank you for your effort to support students like myself. You have played a huge part in my life, and that will go unforgotten.
