Aloha TRIO SSS ʻOhana!

Iʻd like to start this morning off by congratulating Dr. Ardis Eschenberg on her new position as the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs and also to Dr. Judy Oliveira on her new appointment as the Interim-Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs. We wish you both much success and longevity as our new institutional leaders for our Windward Community College.

Also, please attend the UH System Scholarship Workshop at Hale ʻĀkoakoa 101 & 103 from 10am to 12pm, today, February 4, 2014. Sarah Beth Andres from the UH System office will be here to guide you through a step by step process of completing the online application and to also answer any questions or concerns you may have. If you have a laptop, ipad, etc., please take it to the workshop so that you can follow along as she takes you through the application process.

The Windward VITA Tax Center at TRIO SSS is now open on Saturdays from 10am to 2pm. We are taking special appointments for WCC students ONLY during the weekdays. If you would like to schedule an appointment, please call 235-7487 or come in and see us at Hale Naʻauao 146 to do so. We can file both Federal and State returns. These are the requirements to use this FREE tax service.

REQUIREMENTS:
1. CANNOT own a home
2. CANNOT own a business
3. MUST have made under $58,000 last year 2013

If you would like to do your taxes on your own, here is the website below at MyFreeTaxes. Check it out, itʻs awesome and FREE!

Finally, please be sure that when you are using the printer or copy machines in TRIO SSS, that you be mindful of your usage. We encourage FREE printing and copying at TRIO SSS, but we also expect that everyone be courteous and help us to conserve energy, paper, and ink. One of our program's objectives is to help provide support services and materials that remove the barriers that students encounter on their educational journey. But, we cannot continue to do that if we ALL do not practice conservation. If you need to make several copies of something, please make one master copy and come and see myself, Ashley Holck, or Sarah Inouye, and we can make more copies at the Media Center for you. Before you start printing 10 billion copies of a chapter, article, application, etc., please come and see us for approval. Mahalo nui!

Questions?? Concerns?? Email me or call 235-7487 or come see us at Hale Naʻauao 146.
