Hurricane Douglas

UH Ohana,

Even as you all work tirelessly to address COVID-19 issues with our
families and campuses, we are now facing our first hurricane threat of
the season. Hurricane Douglas is entering the Central Pacific today and
is headed straight toward the state of Hawaii, with impacts including
high winds, heavy rain and dangerous surf expected to begin this
weekend. While the "cone" shows Douglas headed first for Hawaii Island,
that path can change at any time and every island is in its path.

You can monitor the progress of the storm here:

Residents should discuss emergency preparedness actions with friends and
family. Officials recommend a 14-day emergency supply.

Make an Emergency Preparedness Kit
•             One gallon of water per person per day for 14 days, but do not hoard so others may prepare as well.
•             High calorie canned foods that don’t require heat or additional water for 14 days
•             Emergency supplies such as a radio, flashlights, first aid kit, batteries, tool kit, and duct tape as     recommended by emergency officials
•             Have at least 2 weeks’ worth of medication, hygiene items, cash, clothes, and supplies for every family member
