Desiree Naluai's TRiO SSS Success Story

My journey at W.C.C. Trio SSS began in Spring 2011 after attending a "College and Career Planning" night adult class at Kalaheo High School which prepared my entrance into college. I am a non-traditional student in my early 40's. Upon hearing about Trio's services, I signed up and utilized their support immediately. Their suggestions have proven solid in my college career endeavors. In the Spring semester of 2012 my significant lover of 5 years passed away leaving me a horrendous duty to fulfill. I withdrew from school for the remaining semester and returned Fall 2012 with an 18 credit load and earned a 4.0 GPA. I was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa that same semester. In Spring 2013, with ambition to fulfill another full time load, I faced homelessness for nearly four months during my semester. I again was forced to withdraw hanging on to only my math course. Trio SSS has gigantically been everything for me as a home base & a student striving for excellence. Trio SSS is my moving force in getting me through these immensely tough times. Not only does Trio SSS provide excellent service to struggling student, far and wide, we as students of Trio SSS also give each other deeply rooted support by the comrade we share. All that Trio SSS offers and the common efforts we have as peer students is definitely THE bridge to breaking or making our career as students who are striving to become significant in our community and society.
