My name is Karanne Souza (Kara) and I
reside here in Kaneohe. I graduated from Castle High School in 2010. After I
graduated I didn't know what college was going to be like, but it's been a
journey. I had to deal with the fact that there was a lot of work ahead of me.
I had decided that I wanted to apply for Trio and there was no hesitation about
signing up because I knew that I needed help with classes. I'm in my third
semester of being a trio participant and happy to be apart of this awesome
program that offers tutoring services. I'm thankful that I have tutors around
to help me with assignments that are sometimes confusing and to help me
understand the material better and to ask questions about something that I'm
not sure about. They have encouraged me and believed in me to do better in my
classes at my own pace. With having the support of trio I was able to make good
decisions about my class selections, asking about the different instructors
that are teaching what class that I was planning on taking and to see what
things I need to work on to get my AA. They have kept me on track when I was
spiraling down out of control. Trio has been like my second family and they
have been there for me when I need a sounding board to talk about anything that
has gone on and helping me get through my academic troubles, and through the
ups and downs. They are always here to help each other out and this program has
been a life saver for me. This has been a place for me to come and hangout with
people but also to do homework, eating lunch, using the computers and the free
printing. I am still making progress slowly but surely to help me grow as a
person.
