Aloha,
My name is Kelona Lopes-Silva and I have attended Windward Community College since 2001-2012. For me in the beginning of college like many others it was hard to get into the swing of learning. I started college after giving birth to my son, who is now 11 and now I have a 2 year old. At the time there was no support team, like trio that I was involved with, so I was pretty much on my own. I think in 2007 I joined TRiO and it was such a great difference to be involved with a program that provided tutoring, the use of computers and also free printing. In fall of 2012 i transferred to Chaminade University of Honolulu for their Nursing program and look forward to graduating with my BSN in May 2016. I appreciate everything that Roy and all the other trio members have provided for me and I think I would not be where I am today if it wasn't for them.
